Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how PermitVector handles information. By using the Service you agree to it. Questions: [email protected].
Who we are
PermitVector is a service of PermitVector LLC, a California limited liability company, providing daily building-permit intelligence to businesses.
Information we collect
Account & billing data you give us — your name, business name, work email, optional phone, and the trade and cities you want covered. Payment-card details are collected and processed by our payment provider (Stripe); we do not store full card numbers.
Usage data — basic, privacy-friendly analytics such as pages viewed, browser/device type, and approximate region, used to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
Public-records permit data — the data that powers the product, sourced from government open-data feeds. It may include property, owner, or business information that is already part of the public record.
How we use information
To provide and improve the Service, deliver your daily feed, process payments, communicate about your account, comply with law, and protect the Service and our users.
Public-records data & data-broker status
The permit data we provide consists of government public records. We act as a commercial reseller of public records and may be a "data broker" under some laws. We do not collect personal data directly from the individuals in those records, and we honor applicable data-broker obligations, including the Texas Data Broker law (Tex. Bus. & Com. Code ch. 509) where it applies.
Not a government service
PermitVector is an independent company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any city, county, or government agency.
Cookies & analytics
We keep tracking minimal. We use only the cookies needed to run the site and privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics to understand usage. We do not use third-party advertising cookies and we do not sell analytics data. If we ever enable an analytics tool that sets additional cookies, we will update this policy.
Service providers (sub-processors)
We share limited information with vetted providers under contract, only to run the Service: Stripe (payment processing), Resend (transactional and feed email delivery), and Cloudflare (hosting, content delivery, and security). We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the Service.
Data sharing & sale
We do not sell or rent your account information. The permit intelligence we provide to subscribers consists of public records, delivered under our Terms for the subscriber's own lawful outreach.
Data retention
We retain account data while your account is active and as needed to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations, after which we delete or anonymize it.
Data security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Marketing email
Our own outreach complies with CAN-SPAM: messages identify the sender, include our physical postal address, and offer a working one-click opt-out.
Your choices
You can access, correct, or delete your account information, or opt out of non-essential email, by emailing [email protected].
California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA may give you the right to know, access, correct, and delete your personal information, to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your account personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. The categories of personal information we collect are identifiers (name, email, phone, business name), commercial information (your subscription), and internet/usage activity — collected from you and, for the permit feed, from public records. To exercise a right or to opt out, email [email protected] with "California Privacy Request" in the subject; we will verify your request and respond as required by law. You may use an authorized agent.
Children's privacy
The Service is for businesses and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice.
